Green shield to its galvanizing plant from Tekom-Puk – May, 2010

Green Shield to its Galvanization Division from Tekom-Puk

Tekom-Puk, being the oldest and most well established cable tray manufacturers of Turkey, established an advanced filter system for its galvanizing plant within the scope of ‘Innovative Technology and a More Environmentalist Production’ project. Tekom-Puk, with this investment brought its galvanizing process to a totally environmentalist structure.

Tekom-Puk, processing metal sheet raw material and producing cable tray system, is one of the most well-established companies of the sector with its operations since 1977. The company coats its own cable trays for the purpose of ensuring resistance against corrosion in its own galvanizing plant. The hot-dipped galvanizing is performed in the facility in a zinc bath, approximately 4,5 m long and 1,5 m deep, in compliance with Turkish Standards Institution standards and norms and with the latest production techniques. The coating process bears serious risks in terms of environmental and workers’ health and requires a very careful management.

General Manager Murad Saygın made a statement in this respect and expressed that they have been acting extremely sensitively in terms of environmental effects and workers’ health from the first establishment of company; and that they have not avoided from any investment. He mentioned that also the waste gas filter facility completed and activated by the company in March is a result of such policy; and continued as follows:

“We have been working in compliance with the regulations on environment since the establishment of our facility. We do not content with only our legal obligations but strive always to be one step forward. We made this investment although we did not have any obligation regarding the filter system we constructed. Thanks to this system established in our facility, the waste gas is absorbed with a flow of 40.000 m3 /hour over the galvanization furnace, and then filtered through water wash and emitted to atmosphere. Thus, we increase the air quality for our colleagues working in the galvanizing plant and ensured the emission of gas totally harmless to the environment.”
